Steel from Dillinger connects
Nord Stream is a gas pipeline that leads through the Baltic Sea, from Vyborg, Russia, to Lubmin, located nearby Greifswald in Germany, connecting Russia with the European Union.
The construction of the Nord Stream Pipeline started in April 2010.
The Nord Stream Pipeline will consist of two parallel lines, each approximately 1,220 kilometres in length. After completion of the construction in 2012, the pipeline will transport around 55 billion cubic metres of natural gas a year - enough to supply more than 26 million households in Europe.
The pipes for the pipeline are being manufactured in large part from heavy plate supplied by Dillinger. On special pipe-laying vessels, the individual pipes will be welded together and laid as a continuous strand on the seabed.
