“Start of a new chapter in Norwegian oil history”
Named after the famous Norwegian pianist and composer, the Edvard Grieg oil field was proven in 2007. It is located in the Norwegian North Sea, 180 kilometers west of Stavanger. Previously called “Luno”, it led to unlocking the understanding of the geological setting in the Utsira High area. Since making the Edvard Grieg discovery five additional discoveries have been made in this area.
The new processing and living quarters platform lies at a water depth of 354ft (108m). It rests on a steel jacket measuring 440ft (134m) in height.
As in the previous chapters of the Norwegian oil history, Dillinger heavy plates play an essential role in this new chapter. 37,400 tons have been used by the fabrication of the platform.
