DILLIMAX highly loaded
Actually, a huge crawler crane type CC 8800 -1 overtops the production site of Dillinger. This crane with its hook height of 110 m is used for the construction of the new continuous slab caster CC6.
This giant crane weights 1,420 tons including the weight of the self-driven counterweight carrier. The maximum load capacity is 1,600 tons at a radius of 10 m. This is one of the most powerful crawler cranes.
The structure of such crawler cranes mainly consists of ultra-high strength steel S960QL or DILLIMAX 965 T. In the under carriage the plate thickness can be up to 100 mm. Also the highly loaded and safety relevant tension bars are made of ultra-high strength steel.
A distortion of the heavy plate during the cutting process of tension bars or straps cannot be tolerated. Such a distortion would torpedo the extremely stringent dimensional tolerances. Here, DILLIMAX plates offer advantages to the fabricator.
