Plates from Dillinger for the Karan Gas Field Development Project

The project is divided into an offshore and onshore package and comprises the construction of three main facilities: gas processing facility at the Manifa facility, platforms and power generation units, and subsea pipeline. The Karan Field produces 50 million m³ gas/day. For this project Dillinger delivered approximately 3,800 t to different customers. A vessel which was fabricated for this project from Dillinger plates is a so-called slug catcher. Slugcatcher is the name of a unit in the gas refinery or petroleum industry in which slugs at the outlet of pipelines are separeted. A slug is a large quantity of gas or liquid that exits the pipeline. The sluc catcher is located between the outlet of the pipeline and the processing equipment The vessel has a diameter of 4,572 mm, a length of 21,200 mm and a weight of 282 t. The design pressure is 69 bar / 5 bar (inner / outer) and the design temperature is 148.9 °C / 110 °C (inner / outer ). Dillinger has supplied 658 t of plate in thicknesses of 12 – 103 mm, width up to 3000 mm and length up to 12 m for this and other vessels.
