For the second time this year, experts from around the globe have gathered in Dillingen for a technical colloquium.
The focuses this time, in the setting of Dillinger Hütte's 9th Structural Steel Engineering Colloquium held on December 3, 2009, were on numerous spectacular projects, such as the new Airbus A380 maintenance hangar at Frankfurt airport, and the Golden Ears Bridge, in Vancouver, Canada. Attention naturally also centered on the steels used and on the special present and future challenges generated by such demanding projects. Some two hundred representatives of industrial enterprises, engineering consultancies, research institutions and universities from a total of fourteen countries came to Dillingen to discuss the properties and potential new applications of these special steels, and to examine completed engineering projects in which they have been used. Another outstanding example: Dillinger Hütte supplied around 2,800 tonnes of high-grade steel for the 787 meter long, 29 meter wide bridge over the Rhine at Wesel, which was opened for traffic only a few days previously.
Innovative top-quality steel products, total orientation around our customers' needs and unceasing technological development in close cooperation with our partners form the basis of our success - as they have for more than 333 years.
