25. August 2006
On 24 August 2006, Dillinger Hütte recruited 77 apprentices and 20 trainees coming specialised secondary schools for the technical-industrial and the commercial field.
. They are welcomed, amongst others, by Dr Karlheinz Blessing, Labour Director, and Roman Selgrath, chairman of the works council. A total of 298 adolescents are undergoing their initial vocational training; they enjoy a good training with occupational perspectives in the company. Thus, Dillinger Hütte still satisfies its responsibility as one of the biggest employers and apprenticeship facilities in the Saarland. With its commitment, Dillinger Hütte reacts, on the one hand, to the continuously high demand for apprenticeship, and on the other, it makes clear that it wants to meet its needs for skilled junior staff with its own efforts. “We are continuously investing into the modernisation of our production installations and work processes in order to strengthen our market leadership in Europe as heavy plate producer. At the same time, we need a highly qualified skilled junior staff in order to meet the requirements of our high-tech installations and the high quality goals of our product”, emphasises the Labour Director, Dr Karlheinz Blessing. In order to guarantee this, Dillinger Hütte also particularly invested in the equipment of the department for further education, especially in the area of CNC technology as well as automation and drive engineering. With a total of 16 different professions, Dillinger Hütte offers a broad range to the adolescents. The main focus of the vocal training is put on the technical-industrial field. A total of 73 young people learn professions such as systems mechanic, industrial mechanic, process mechanic, chipping mechanic, electronics engineer for industrial engineering and mechatronic engineers, just to name but a few. An emphasis has to be put on the growing number (10) of female apprentices in the technical-industrial field. As a tradition, the youth council carries out an “apprentice day” for the new apprentices. It will take place in the youth village Blauloch in Wallerfangen on 25 August 2006. The new apprentices have the chance to get to know their instructors as well as their colleagues in an informal ambience and to prepare themselves for their start in the company.
Innovative top-quality steel products, total orientation around our customers' needs and unceasing technological development in close cooperation with our partners form the basis of our success - as they have for more than 333 years.
