Dillinger Hütte raises price for heavy plate by €30/t for deliveries in second quarter of 2014

After a long period of prices remaining stable at extremely low levels, Dillinger Hütte considers this step to be in line with the market. Positive developments in the European market as well as in international markets appear to support this assessment. Major projects have been given the go-ahead in the pipe plate market, which has significantly reduced surpluses in the market. Major Asian heavy plate manufacturers have also once again achieved good utilization of capacities, which supports the international project business. With the price increase, Dillinger Hütte is trying to achieve needed improvement in its strained earnings situation, in the face of high raw material and energy costs. The structural and cost-cutting program DH 2014, which is currently being implemented, will also continue to contribute to this effort.
