05. December 2008
Dillinger Hütte's Training division inaugurated a new workshop in the former fire-brigade building on Friday, December 5. A total of some 1.5 million Euro has been invested in improving initial and further training facilities.
This expansion of training resources and potentials demonstrates the company's awareness of its growing need for young, qualified staff and of the constantly rising demands made by new high-tech equipment and ultra-modern processing and production methods. "This year, we have again increased the number of our trainees by 25 % compared to the previous year - and we also intend to maintain our high training levels in the coming year. Our qualified staff and young people are an important element in the economic success of our enterprise", emphasized HR director, Dr. Karlheinz Blessing, at the opening ceremony. "We must, of course, also provide the preconditions for the best possible initial and further training of our employees." A total of around 1.5 million Euro has been invested in the building work involved in the refurbishing, modernization and equipping of the shop, and in the provision of new machines, including a 3D coordinate measuring unit. In addition, three extra instructors - one for process mechanics, one for industrial mechanics and one for control and electrical systems - boost the strength of the training team. The newly opened workshop provides space and facilities for initial training in metalworking and control systems, and in electrical technology. The new training suite and its equipment at the same time provide optimum conditions, for both young men and women, for training in recognized trades, such as industrial mechanic and machinist, in which a high level of team-orientated and supradisciplinary work is necessary. Further expansion - in the field of further training, in particular - is planned for the future. In 2008, Dillinger Hütte increased the number of its trainees compared to the previous year, from 75 to a total of 96 persons. The company thus now employs a total of 363 trainees and interns. Dillinger Hütte's range of training opportunities covers twelve recognized occupations in all, extending from systems mechanic up to and including catering-trade specialist.
Innovative top-quality steel products, total orientation around our customers' needs and unceasing technological development in close cooperation with our partners form the basis of our success - as they have for more than 333 years.
