In today’s meeting, Dillinger Hütte’s supervisory board agreed on two investment projects with a total volume of € 27.5 million.
Within the context of modernisation steps continuously carried out in the rolling mill - in 2004 the 4.8 m high rolling stand was extensively modernised - a new cooling plant is built. An investment sum of € 12.2 million is necessary for the construction of this plant. The plant helps to reduce the work of the existent cooling plant at the rolling line and to optimise the flow of material as well as the entire logistics in the rolling mill. Furthermore, the existing flaming installation is replaced by a more efficient and more environmentally-friendly installation in the slab adjustment department of the steel plant. Thanks to a complete housing of the installation the dust-containing emissions can be completely collected and cleaned. Investment cost for this project amount to € 12.5 million. “We are investing on average € 50 million per year in the modernisation of Dillinger Hütte’s installations. This sum does not include investments for Zentralkokerei Saar and ROGESA Roheisengesellschaft (coke and pig iron production)", says Dr Norbert Bannenberg, technical director of Dillinger Hütte. "With these modernisations, we are continuously implementing one of our company goals: to produce high-quality products in an environmentally friendly manner. Only with modern installations with state-of-the-art technology can we sustain our leading position amongst heavy plate producers world-wide.
Innovative top-quality steel products, total orientation around our customers' needs and unceasing technological development in close cooperation with our partners form the basis of our success - as they have for more than 333 years.
