Dillinger Hütte and Saarstahl invest more than € 200 million in the commonly owned Zentralkokerei Saar

During their meetings on 12th December 2005, the supervisory boards of Dillinger Hütte and Saarstahl AG decided on a new modernisation plan of more than € 200 million for their commonly owned subsidiary, Zentralkokerei Saar (ZKS), located in Dillingen.
The new modernisation plan envisages the construction of a new third battery. This battery being in service, the old battery No. 1 will be cooled down and reconstructed. After finishing this construction stage, the second old battery will be closed. Thanks to this investment, which is carried out in close cooperation with relevant authorities, ZKS will again reach its initial production in mid 2010. The investment guarantees state-of-the-art technology in the construction of coke ovens and environmental protection, and considerably contributes to the protection of the steel industry’s location on the river Saar.
