Producing electricity in face of missing solar radiation? What naturally seems to be impossible for a solar power plant is state of the art concerning this ultra-modern project owing to application of innovative technology connected with heavy plate from Dillinger.
The solar power tower plant located in the Northern Cape region of South Africa will have an output of 50 MW and will provide clean and sustainable power for approximately 65,000 homes after completion. Thus it will avoid 183,000 tonnes of CO2-emission a year in context of renewable energy. Centerpiece of the heliostation is an integrated energy storage system which inaugurates the possibility to maintain power generation for duration of two hours during absence of solar radiation. For manufacturing of the here used steam accumulators Dillinger supplied 2,600 t of low alloyed pressure vessel steel SA 533 Type B Class 2 in thicknesses up to 107 mm.
Innovative top-quality steel products, total orientation around our customers' needs and unceasing technological development in close cooperation with our partners form the basis of our success - as they have for more than 333 years.
