Announcement from the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Montan-Stiftung-Saar and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of SHS – Stahl-Holding-Saar

Dr. Michael H. Müller worked tirelessly for decades in the restructuring of the Saarland steel industry and, with great foresight and perseverance, promoted the strengthening and future viability of the steel-producing region along the Saar. This was his life's work.

Dr. Michael H. Müller began working for Saarstahl in the late 1980s as a corporate counsel and in the following years acted as a consultant lawyer. He had been a member of the Supervisory Board of AG der Dillinger Hüttenwerke since 1 July 1998 and had served as its Chairman since 23 September 2004. He had been Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Saarstahl AG since 10 July 2008. In 2001 he became a member of the Board of Management of SHS – Stahl-Holding-Saar, of which he was Chairman in subsequent years until his resignation from the Board of Management on 1 September 2018. Dr. Müller had been Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Montan-Stiftung-Saar since 7 September 2007.

"The entire steel industry of Saarland, its employees, boards of management, works councils and supervisory boards, mourn the loss of an outstanding personality who has played a decisive role in recent decades in shaping the history of Saarland’s steel industry and who paved the way for our companies to remain viable in the future,” said Reinhard Störmer, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Montan-Stiftung-Saar. “We will carry on his efforts in continuity and with determination to strengthen the steel-producing region.”
