Help preheating temperature for flame cutting

Definition of preheating temperature or minimum temperature during flame cutting:

Here it concerns the lowest allowed temperature of the plate during flame cutting. The temperature should be measured on the side opposite to the heat input.

How to get to the recommended preheating temperature for flame cutting:

  1. Please enter the Steel grade. The selection of the steel grade sets some boundary conditions for the calculation of the preheating temperature. It does not affect or preset the chemical analysis (this needs to be entered manually below).
  2. Please enter the actual plate thickness of the product as the preheating temperature for flame cutting strongly depends on the plate thickness (see diagram below)
  3. Enter the actual sulphur content of the steel. You will find this information on the test certificate of your steel plate.
  4. Enter the actual chemical analysis of the product. You will find this information also on the test certificate. The preheating temperature strongly depends on the actual chemical analysis. Therefore the diagram preheating temperature vs. thickness is only valid when similar chemical analysis is used.
  5. The result of the recommended preheating temperature for flame cutting is shown below in the designated text field.
